It's opening weekend for the Alpine Cowboys baseball team at Kokernot Field - the Cowboys beat out the Las Vegas Train Robbers 6-3 at their first home game of the season on Thursday, bringing their record to 3-0 for the season.

Alpine topped Vegas at two games in Del Rio this week, winning 16-7 on Monday and 11-5 on Tuesday.

The series against Vegas continues at Kokernot Field with a game Friday at 7 pm and a double-header at 3 pm and 7 pm on Saturday.

From the KRTS News Team, Natalie Patillo was on hand talking with players and fans at Thursday's game.

Kokernot Field was recently featured in a Texas Monthly list of 5 notable minor-league ballparks across the state. The Cowboys were the subject of a 2010 book called The Amazing Tale of Mr. Herbert and His Fabulous Alpine Cowboys Baseball Club.
