Fort Payne Sees Future in High-Tech Education
After seeing its sock industry decimated by competition from lower-wage countries, Fort Payne, Ala., aims to prepare its youngest residents for a high-tech future. It's investing in technologically advanced education tools in hopes that its high school graduates will be able to take advantage of a wave of new high-tech jobs coming to the region.
Men are hunters, women are gatherers. That was the assumption. A new study upends it.
The implications are potentially enormous, says history professor Kimberly Hamlin: "The myth that man is the hunter and woman is the gatherer ... naturalizes the inferiority of women."

Agents in Miami have arrested seven men who are indicted on terrorism charges. The seven are accused of conspiring to provide support to al-Qaida and planning to bomb the Sears Tower in Chicago, along with some government buildings in Miami.

U.S. Troops Push Southward Through Fallujah
The U.S. offensive against Iraqi insurgents in Fallujah continues, as the insurgency launches attacks elsewhere in the country. U.S. commanders say they control 80 percent of the city, and troops are pushing southward through the city amid frequent firefights. NPR's Anne Garrels reports.

G8 Countries Demand Answer from Iran
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is in Moscow to discuss the West's nuclear standoff with Iran. She's meeting with foreign ministers from the G8 -- the group of eight leading industrial countries. They'll also go over the agenda for next month's G8 summit in Russia's second city, St. Petersburg.
