1 Dead, 2 Wounded in Alpine Shooting

4:30 PM, Wednesday: The alleged shooter, Alvino Gonzalez, has been charged with murder as well as two second-degree felonies, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, against the two surviving victims on Tuesday night's shooting.

11:15 AM, Wednesday: Alpine police have arrested Alvino Gonzalez, 28, of Alpine and have charged him with murder. He was booked into Brewster County Jail. Bail has been set at $225,000.

The Alpine Police Department released a statement on the triple shooting on Tuesday night. The incident occurred at 7:48pm at 607 E. Holland Avenue. The two injured men, John Cisneros, 27, and Wayne Witcher, 37, were transported to Big Bend Regional Medical Center for treatment of gunshot wounds. Rey Vega was pronounced dead at the scene.

8:30 AM, Wednesday:  Authorities still have not released the identities of the two people wounded in Tuesday night's shooting in Alpine, or the identity of the 1 male suspect in custody in connection with the shooting.

Brewster County Sheriff Ronnie Dodson tells KRTS a statement on the shooting will be released later this morning.

29-year-old Alpine native Reymundo Julian Vega was pronounced dead at the scene Tuesday night. The shooting took place around 8 pm near at a residence in the 600 block of East Holland Avenue.

A homicide investigation is ongoing, and authorities haven't released details on a suspected motive in the shooting.

1:05 AM, Wednesday: According to the Brewster County Sheriff's Department, Rey Vega, age 29, was pronounced dead at the scene of Tuesday night's shooting in Alpine.

The shooting took place around 8 pm near at a residence near the 600 block of East Holland Avenue, near the Sonic Drive-Inn.

Both the Sheriff's Department and the Alpine Police Department are investigating it as a possible homicide. An autopsy is being performed.

Two men who were wounded in the incident are at Big Bend Regional Medical Center. Law enforcement has apprehended a man who is being investigating as a suspect in the shooting.

12:05 AM, Wednesday, July 16: At the KRTS Studio, reporter Natalie Pattillo speaks with Tom Michael about the Tuesday night shooting in Alpine. Betse Esparza, the Public Information Officer for Brewster County confirmed the details of the evening. Police are treating it as a homicide. Pattillo and Michael spoke about the rarity of homicides in Alpine.

10 PM, Tuesday, July 15: For KRTS News, Natalie Pattillo reports on a shooting in Alpine. The shooting occurred Tuesday evening at a residence located near Stripes and Twin Peaks Liquors, along Holland Avenue.

According to the Brewster County Sheriff's Department, one person is dead, two others are wounded, and the shooter is in custody. Officials are talking to eyewitnesses and gathering evidence.  As of this writing, the names of the victims have not been released by officials.
