Teams across the Trans-Pecos are still fighting for their first win of the season, although they're putting up more of a fight than we've seen in recent weeks.

The Marfa Shorthorns narrowly missed out on their first win of the year this week, losing to the Sierra Blanca Vaqueros 42-36.  The Fort Davis Indians also remain winless, losing out this week 40-23 to the Sanderson Eagles.  The Van Horn Eagles lost their homecoming game to the Tornillo Coyotes as well, with a final score of 40-14.  The worst local loss of the week was delivered to the Fort Stockton Panthers, who suffered their second shutout of the year, losing 27-0 to the Monahans Loboes.  All of those teams have now sunk to a record of 0-4, except the Vaqueros who were bumped to 2-1.

However, the Alpine Fightin’ Bucks took home a big win on Friday, handing the Anthony Wildcats their first loss of the season.  The final score in that game was a crushing 60-0.  The Fightin' Bucks record is now even at 2-2.

In Permian Basin 11 Man Football, the Permian Panthers took home their first win of the year while delivering the Abilene Eagles their first loss.  The final score in that game was 24-14.

Finally, in college football news, the Sul Ross Lobos lost 33-6 to the Trinity University Tigers.  The Lobos record is now 0-3.
