Energy Transfer, the Dallas company that wants to build a natural gas pipeline from the Permian Basin through the Big Bend and into Mexico, held public meetings yesterday in Presidio and Alpine.

About 50 people turned up to speak with company officials in Presidio, with around double that in attendance in Alpine.

Energy Transfer set up tables and maps where citizens could ask company managers and contractors about its plan to build a 143-mile pipeline through Pecos, Brewster and Presidio counties, a project financed by Mexico’s federal government.

Reporter Lorne Matalon was there and spoke with Rick Smith of Energy Transfer and David Keller of the Big Bend Conservation Alliance.
