Gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis campaigns through West Texas

Wendy Davis fields a question from West Texas Public Radio, April 2, 2014, Midland TX.

Texas Senator Wendy Davis came to the Permian Basin on Wednesday. The Democratic candidate for Governor came to raise awareness and money in her fight against the Republican nominee, Attorney General Greg Abbott.

David Rosen is the Democratic Party Chair of Midland County. While making fundraising calls, he quickly runs through his list of declared Democrats and then targets people he believes may be Independents.

At each campaign stop, Senator Davis points to her time as a councilwoman for the city of Fort Worth, where she worked along with the oil & gas industry on community issues. She’s been attacking her opponent Attorney General Greg Abbott with the main plank of her platform – education.

Her supporters at the Harvest Caffe in Midland include Leslie Chupp English and her teenage daughter, Eva, who points to her 11-hour filibuster last summer on the Senate floor.

Bobbie Duncan has been the Democratic chairperson for Ector County, since 2008. She believes Davis's trip to the Permian Basin have been lucrative.
