Update 4:52 pm: Some of our listeners have reported low visibility on US 67 just south of Marfa, as well as improved conditions on US 90 between Marfa and Fort Davis, with little snow remaining but still plenty of rain and slippery conditions. Snowfall has been recently reported on Pinto Canyon road, along with the higher elevations in Fort Davis and near Limpia Crossing. SH 118 near Big Hill, south of Alpine, suffered from snow accumulation and low visibility earlier today, and could still be potentially dangerous. Hazardous conditions were reported by the Presidio County Sheriff's office around 3 pm today (Wednesday January 9) on TX 17 north towards Balmorhea and Fort Davis. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect today until midnight for high-country areas of the Trans-Pecos, including Marfa, Alpine and Fort Davis. An 80% chance of precipitation is forecast for the evening, with potential snowfall in elevations above 5500-6000 feet (Davis and Chinati Mountains) and rain in lower areas. Farther south toward the river, slight chances of rain near Presidio. Towards Terlingua and Big Bend National Park, a Winter Storm Advisory is in effect until midnight, with moderate to briefly heavy snow possible. Potential snow accumulations in the Chisos Mountains range from 1-3 inches, with 5 inches possible in some local areas.
According to recent reports from Alpine, snow is currently falling near Big Hill, south of Alpine on 118. Fog and limited visibility are reported in this area.

Currently, TxDot reports that patches of ice and/or snow are present on I-10 in Jeff Davis county, where plows have been dispatched.
