Pete Gallego Wins U.S. House Seat

Alpine native Pete Gallego has bested incumbent Francisco "Quico" Canseco. As of 12:30 AM on Wednesday morning, with 86% of districts reporting, Pete Gallego (D) leads Canseco (R) 49.9% to 45.9%. KRTS News spoke with Robert Halpern, long time area resident and co-editor and publisher of the Big Bend Sentinel and Big Bend Now, about the rise of Gallego's political career.

UPDATE WEDNESDAY MORNING: The campaign for the reelection of Congressman Canseco is questioning the preliminary results.

UPDATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON: Canseco has dropped his investigation and called to congratulate Representative-Elect Gallego today.
