Death in Big Bend Sector

There is what is believed to be a non-violent death of a man employed by the Big Bend Sector of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The Border Patrol released the following statement:
U.S. Border Patrol agent David R. Delaney, assigned to the Big Bend Sector, passed away while performing his duties Friday, Nov. 2, near Big Bend National Park, Texas. An investigation is underway to confirm the agent's cause of death. Agent Delaney was 44 years old and served in the U.S. Border Patrol for 10 years. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of agent Delaney during the difficult time.
KRTS News contacted a CPB spokesperson who said, "At this time, there is no indication this death was a result of foul play."

The Big Bend Sector of Border Patrol has the largest geographical area of any sector along the Southwest border. Agents are responsible for more 420 miles of river border.

MONDAY UPDATE: Funeral services will held on Tuesday in Fort Stockton at the Civic Center. Viewing begins at noon, with a memorial service at 2 PM.
