Khaira Arby in Concert on Wednesday May 23

Khaira in Studio Bogolan recording Timbuktu Trab.

Please join Marfa Book Company and Marfa Public Radio for an Evening With Khaira Arby at the Crowley Theater in Marfa on Wednesday May 23.

WEDNESDAY UPDATE: Khaira Arby and her band will be arriving later than expected. We're currently talking with two artists about the possibility of an opening set at 9 PM. We don't expect Khaira and her band to perform until 9:45. Tickets are limited however, so KRTS recommends you come early, buy one, and get stamped.

The singer, who lives in Timbuktu in Mali, is known world-wide for her brand of desert blues. She will make her Chihuahuan Desert debut with a full backing band. Tickets will be $10 and available at the Crowley Theater on the night of the show.

Enjoy the sounds of the Sahara desert in the West Texas on Wednesday May 23. Doors open at 8 PM.

Listen to the live interview of Khaira Arby (with real-time French translation) on 93.5 FM on Wednesday morning at 11 am CT.

You can hear several of Khaira Arby's recordings on her myspace page.

Also, NPR captured her band in concert with this video during her last trip to Texas, in 2011.

Marfa Public Radio thanks its community partner, the Marfa Book Company, for collaborating on this rare show at the Crowley Theater.
