More than 200,000 visitors and 2,000 bands are expected in Austin TX this week for the annual South by Southwest Music Festival and Conference. And Marfa Public Radio has taken notice.
The KRTS original program Indie Kitty (Tuesday, 8-10PM) will feature two hours of new music by many of the bands playing in Austin. Plus, the syndicated program Sound Opinions, at 7 PM, takes a close look at SxSW. NPR Music also offers extensive coverage of SxSW in both broadcast and web programming, including live webcasts of several concerts.
Tonight, the Indie Kitty new music program is hosted by Pete Szilagyi. Earlier in the day, at 3 PM, Pete will play "music for driving" - for the many visitors arriving in the Big Bend region this week during Texas Spring Break. Pete knows a thing or two about driving, as a long time car columnist.
