Rumors have been swirling around about horse abuse and animal deaths in South Presidio County. Friday at 3 PM, there was a civil hearing at the Presidio County Courthouse in Marfa, over which Justice of the Peace, Cinderella Guevara presided.
The parties involved were Trent Saulters from Waco, who sells horses for slaughter, via the Belgium Company, Intermeats, and also C4 Pens, which holds horses and cattle in such transactions. This civil hearing did not concern alleged charges of abuse, as Guevara continued to remind the parties involved.
All 300+ horses penned at C4 were seized by the County earlier this week, even though less than 50 were thought to belong to Mr. Saulters. Following the hearing, the Court released the writ of sequestration, which means that the horses were allowed to be returned from the county's possession.
