There was a very small grass fire outside Alpine this afternoon about 1/2-mile east of the Range Animal Science building, just west of Hilltop Livestock, on the south side of US Hwy 90. The tracks are very close to the road there, so the fire was able to be contained quickly. There were at least 2 trucks and a dozen personnel on the scene. There was a flare-up later that was also put down this afternoon.
