On Day 9 of the Rock House Fire, it has consumed 182,007 acres and is 70 percent contained. Today firefighters focused on the northwest flank of the fire, to hold its progress into Bob Manning Canyon.
Crews constructed black lines and continued burnout operations, some of which were conducted to protect the McDonald Observatory, which is not currently in danger.
Based on the forecasted weather, Far West Texas remains on "red flag" fire weather warning through midday Tuesday.
