According to the Big Bend Gazette, Park Service and Border Patrol agents have been attempting to recover a dead body from the Rio Grande at an area called Jewel Camp in Big Bend National Park.
Marfa Public Radio spoke to John Waters, the publisher of the Big Bend Gazette. He indicated that the body was in the process of being recovered, but no word yet that it had been accomplished. You can hear a podcast of that conversation above.
An earlier discussion with Waters revealed that the corpse was first noticed on Saturday morning - perhaps 70 miles away - but due to high river levels, the rapid rate of river flow, and rough terrain, it could not be recovered over the weekend.
