Mexico will swear in a new president on December 1st. Recent polls show Mexicans have twin concerns; the economy and security and both are linked because without security sustained economic growth is hampered. Some estimates claim as many as 100,000 people have been killed since Mexico decided to wage war against the country's drug cartels. With a new administration about to take office, those same polls suggest Mexicans believe the incoming administration of the PRI will be able to reduce violence. Lorne Matalon has just returned from northern Chihuahua where citizens explain their hopes and fears about a new government, the drug war and their yearning to live without terror.
