According to the Texas Forest Service, good progress was made on the Rock House Fire yesterday. Firefighters extended a three mile line on the northwest portion of the Fire and completed work to protect the Boy Scout Camp that borders the northwest portion with a sprinkler system.
Today’s objective is to keep the Fire west of Highway 17, south of Boy Scout Camp Road, East of Bob Manning Canyon, Black Mountain and Limpia Crossing Subdivision and hold the perimeter south of Highway 118 and Highway 17 up to Wild Rose Pass.
Residents can expect to see an increased volume of visible smoke today as firefighters use burnout operations to extend the line around the Fire. Jim Fowler of the Fort Davis Fire Department said smoke would be visible from Limpia Crossing, the McDonald Observatory, and the Davis Mountains Resort.
